The 3Two1 Story · Australia's Premium Spirits Curator

An independent Australian distributor with five distribution centres in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. Built on direct supplier relationships, a bartender's instinct for product, and a conviction that Australian venues deserve world-class craft spirits.

The Founding

3Two1 began with a simple premise borrowed from the bar itself: three parts spirit, two parts sour, one part sweet. It is the architecture of a balanced cocktail and the architecture of a distribution house that thinks like a bartender first and an importer second.

Charles Docus founded the company with a specific brief. Australia had no shortage of multinational spirit portfolios, but it had a real shortage of independent distributors willing to do the hard work of representing craft houses end-to-end — securing exclusive Australian rights, holding stock locally, supporting venues with training and recipes, and answering the phone the same day a sales rep calls. Today 3Two1 operates from five distribution centres in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, putting stock within next-day reach of every major on-trade market in the country.

That gap became the business. Today 3Two1 represents more than eleven exclusive supplier partnerships across France, Mexico, Jamaica, Cuba, Peru, Brazil and the United States, all serviced from Australian-controlled logistics and a sales team that has worked behind real bars.

Three parts spirit, two parts sour, one part sweet. The cocktail formula. The business formula.

The Mission

Bring world-class craft spirits to Australian venues, and make them easy to buy, easy to use and easy to defend on a back-bar.

That mission shapes every decision the company makes. We do not list a brand we cannot stand behind on flavour. We do not sign a distribution agreement we cannot service from every state. We do not run a sales call without leaving the venue with something practical — a recipe, a pour-cost, a spec sheet, a sample.

For the on-premise trade — cocktail bars, restaurants, hotel groups — that means a curated portfolio of syrups, liqueurs, premium tequilas, single-estate rums and house-defining piscos. For the off-premise trade — independent bottle shops and groups — it means access to brands that genuinely earn shelf space.

The Portfolio Today

  • 8+ Exclusive AU/NZ Distributorships
  • 100+ SKUs Across Spirits, Liqueurs & Syrups
  • Every Australian State & Territory+ NZ Serviced
  • 7 Countries of Origin in the Range

The portfolio reads like a bartender's wishlist, because that is exactly how it was built. Giffard from the Loire Valley for syrups and liqueurs. Casa San Matías, Pueblo Viejo and La Dama from the Jalisco highlands and lowlands for tequila. Worthy Park and Rum-Bar rums from a single Jamaican estate. Black Tears from Cuba. Demonio de los Andes for pisco from Peru. Thoquino for Brazilian cachaça. Whiskey Row for American whiskey. Burnt Ends for the Scotch and Rye bartender voice in the range.

What Makes Us Different

Direct supplier relationships

Every brand in the 3Two1 portfolio is held under exclusive Australian distribution. No re-importers. No grey-channel pricing surprises. When a bar manager asks where the product came from, we can name the distillery, the family that owns it, and the date the shipment cleared customs.

Bartender-led curation

The team has spent real years behind real bars (the ones with wells). That shows up in product selection, in the way price lists are built around pour-costs rather than RRP alone, and in the recipes we hand over with every brand.

Dedicated trade support

Same-day quoting for trade accounts. Area sales managers in NSW, VIC, QLD, SA and WA. Marketing and POS support sized to the venue. Sampling and training built into every onboarding. Wholesale enquiries through /pages/wholesale are responded to by a human, the same day.

The Team

3Two1 runs lean and senior. The structure reflects the reality of independent distribution in Australia — the people responsible for the brand are also the people answering trade calls.

Looking Forward

The plan is not to be the biggest distributor in Australia. The plan is to remain the most useful one — for the bartenders, sommeliers, retailers and venue operators who treat their back-bar like a craft, not a category.

That means continuing to add craft producers who fit the curation, deepening the trade-support programme through the 3Two1 Academy, and investing in the Giffard West Cup as Australia's anchor competition for working bartenders. It also means saying no to brands that do not fit — quietly, and often.

If your venue or your group wants to work with a distributor that actually picks up the phone, the wholesale enquiry form is the fastest route in.
